We are thrilled to invite you to view the chosen ten works of art in our inaugural 2008 show now on display at the Cary, N.C. Town Hall Campus located at 316 N. Academy Street through June 18, 2009. This opportunity for established and emerging artists to show sculpture in Cary’s art-friendly environment provides art buyers reassurance that an expert in the field of sculpture selected this work for craftsmanship and merit. It is also a chance for families of Cary to spread your picnic blanket near a beautiful work of art, to enjoy that peanut butter and jelly sandwich as you breathe fresh air, soak in the sunlight and contemplate the goodness of life.
It’s an honor to have Mr. Hank Foreman, Director and Chief Curator of the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, as our juror.
Congratulations to $5,000 grand prizewinner, Mike Roig, for his seventeen-foot-tall steel sculpture, “Air Guitar”. In addition to the grand prize, all artists who have installed their work for this exhibition will receive a $1,000 honorarium to offset transportation and incidental expenses. All works are for sale.
We hope we have made the information you seek about the show, the artists and their artwork available to you on this website. Please contact us if you have further questions or comments.
Cary Visual Art, a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to bring inspiring art to Cary through public art projects and education programs, established this sculpture event in cooperation with the Town of Cary, NC.
